Solace Café, Training Partners, Mental Health Professionals
We are currently recruiting clinically experienced professionals, and support staff, for The Solace Café, a new out of hours mental health support service which will be delivered by Aware, in partnership with St John of God Mental Health Services and the HSE. We also frequently recruit professional, experienced Training Partners to deliver our adult and school education programmes, on a self-employed contract basis. We recruit two types of Training Partners:
- Training Partners with experience delivering training to groups of adults and/or students in schools to deliver our Life Skills Programmes.
- Training Partners who are qualified Mental Health Professionals with extensive experience delivering training to deliver our Living Well With Bipolar Disorder and Relatives & Friends Programmes.

The Solace Café
In line with Sharing the Vision: A Mental Health Policy for Everyone, HSE National Mental Health is piloting the implementation of Crisis Resolution Teams and out of hours ‘Solace Cafés’.
Solace Cafés will provide an out-of-hours friendly and supportive community crisis prevention and crisis response service in the evenings and at weekends in a safe, café style, non-clinical environment. The Solace Café will support individuals and their family members / carers to deal with an immediate crisis and to plan safely to manage their mental health and wellbeing.
Aware, as community partner, in conjunction with the HSE and St. John of God Mental Health Services is seeking to recruit clinically experienced professionals to manage all planning and operational functions of the Solace Café, along with a support staff team. The cafe will be located in Monkstown, Co. Dublin. The roles are a mix of full-time and part-time with some remote working available.

Aware Education Programmes: Training Partners & Mental Health Professionals
If you wish to be considered as a Training Partner, you must be:
Self-employed and understand you will be hired on a sessional basis only
Very strong at communication and presentation skills in the virtual sphere, using Zoom, and face to face delivery skills
Willing to commit to deliver a minimum number of programmes per 6 month contract (2 programmes for adults; 4 programmes for schools)
If you wish to be considered as a Mental Health Professional Trainer, you must be:
Self-employed and understand you will be hired on a sessional basis only
A qualified and experienced Mental Health Professional e.g. Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Counsellors, Psychiatric Social Workers, RPN
Very strong at communication and presentation skills in the virtual sphere, using Zoom, and face to face delivery skills
Willing to commit to deliver a minimum of 2 programmes per 6 month contract
MHP – Living Well With Bipolar Disorder Programme
What is the Living Well With Bipolar Disorder Programme?
Living Well With Bipolar Disorder is an information and support programme, designed for people with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. Educational in nature, the aim of the programme is to provide participants with opportunities to understand and manage bipolar disorder effectively, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to live well.
The programme is delivered over the course of eight weeks by an experienced Mental Health Professional. The weekly 90 minute sessions (except week seven, which is a 120 minute session) are workshop style to offer a participative learning environment.
It is essential before you apply, that you follow these guidelines:

- A formal training/teaching qualification (minimum Train the Trainer) is highly desirable

MHP – Relatives & Friends Programme
What is the Relatives & Friends Programme?
The Relatives & Friends Programme is a psychoeducational programme designed specifically for those supporting a loved one experiencing depression or bipolar disorder. The aim is to focus on the self-care of the supporter, while also equipping the supporter with the tools to understand and support a loved one experiencing depression or bipolar disorder.
The programme is six hours over the course of four weeks (90 minute sessions) and is available to anyone aged 18 years and over.
It is essential before you apply, that you follow these guidelines:

- Read the role criteria
- A formal training/teaching qualification (minimum Train the Trainer) is highly desirable

TP – Life Skills Programmes
What are the Life Skills Programme?
Aware’s Life Skills Programmes are based on the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). We offer two versions of this programme, one for adults delivered in venues around the country and one for senior cycle, secondary school students delivered in the classroom.
LSP for adults is delivered over six consecutive weeks in a group setting. It is designed for people experiencing mild to moderate depression and participants can learn how to manage their feelings when they feel stressed, worried or depressed, and learn simple and practical skills to help them cope with life’s challenges.
LSP for schools is delivered during a pre-arranged double class time (70 mins) over 4 consecutive weeks, in a relaxed way. The programme is very effective in helping students to learn new ways of dealing with life and its difference challenges.
It is essential before you apply, that you follow these guidelines:
- Inform yourself about Aware and in particular our Life Skills Programmes (adult version and/or school version, as appropriate)
- Read the role criteria
